What Is Logynon and Logynon ED?
Logynon is an oral contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. It has Ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel as its active ingredients. You can find it in a Logynon 21-pill pack or a Logynon ED 28-pill pack. Both pills will give you over 99% protection from pregnancy if used the right way.
How Does Logynon Work?
Logyon helps to prevent ovulation, which subsequently prevents the production of eggs. It also leads to the building up of mucus in the cervix, thus blocking sperms from getting to the uterus. It also helps thin your uterus lining and makes it difficult for an egg that has been fertilized to be embedded into the wall of the uterus.
Logynon may not be the best option if:
- Are allergic to any of its ingredients
- Have angina pectoris
- Have severe migraines or diabetes
- Have a history of breast cancer, stroke or heart attack
- Have impaired liver function
- Have high blood pressure
- Have or have had a blood clot or blood clotting disorder
- Your blood has high lipid levels.
It might also not be suitable if you suffer from any of these conditions:
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Varicose veins
- Migraines
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Inflamed veins under the skin
- Obesity
- Sickle-cell anaemia
- Kidney disease
- Crohn’s disease or chronic inflammatory bowel disease
- An inflamed pancreas
Consult your doctor or pharmacist to see if you have any other condition that might prevent you from using Logynon as a preferred contraceptive. More information can be found in the Patient Information Leaflet.
