How Do Almogran 12.5mg tablets Work?

However, when serotonin levels are too high, it can cause migraines. Almogran 12.5mg tablets are a medication used to treat migraines and cluster headaches. The active ingredient in the medication Almotriptan is a type of medicine called a 5-HT1 Serotonin receptor agonist, that works by reducing the amount of serotonin in the body, which can help to prevent migraines. In addition, Almogran can relieve migraines by constricting blood vessels and reducing inflammation, pain and pressure on the walls, which lowers blood pressure and makes it easier for the heart to pump blood around the body.

 

Warnings

  • Do not use Almogran to prevent migraine attacks; it is only for relief during an active migraine.
  • Not suitable for individuals with a history of heart disease, severe hypertension, stroke, liver disease, or those taking certain other migraine medications.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Almogran.
  • May cause drowsiness; avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.
  • Inform your doctor of any other medications or supplements you are taking to prevent possible drug interactions​
  • Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery when taking Almogran because it can cause drowsiness.
  • Do not use Almogran without informing your doctor of any other prescription medication you are using.

Directions

You must take Almogran exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Almogran 12.5mg tablets should be taken orally, with or without food.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with plenty of water without crushing or chewing.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
  • The recommended dose for children above 18 years and adults is two doses in 24 hours.
  • Almogran should not be used more often than prescribed, or for longer than the doctor recommends.

Ingredients

Almotriptan, titanium dioxide, povidone, Mannitol, sodium starch glycolate, carnauba wax, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, Macrogol 400, and sodium stearyl fumarate.

Side Effects

Side effects include:

  • Nausea

  • Dry mouth
  • Throat irritation
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhoea
  • Insomnia
