Feanolla is an oral contraceptive tablet in a group referred to as mini pills. These are tablets that depend completely on the main ingredient of progesterone ( an artificial version of it called desogestrel). A progesterone-only contraceptive tablet, the pill can effectively stop pregnancy. The pill may be taken even 12 hours after intercourse.

Description

What is Feanolla Feanolla is used to prevent pregnancy in women. Unlike combined pills, Feanolla only contains synthetic progesterone hormone known as progestogen desogestrel. It is for this reason that Feanolla is referred to as a progestogen-only pill (POP). In other words, Feanolla, unlike other contraceptives doesnt have oestrogen. This makes it a safer and more convenient option for women who struggle to ingest oestrogen into their system. It is a very safe option for women who are breastfeeding.

How Does It Work Desogestrel, which is an active ingredient in Feanolla, mimics the functions progesterone. It causes the formation of a thick cervical mucus that prevents the penetration of sperms into the uterus. As a result, ovulation fails to occur. This is what makes it an effective contraceptive for pregnancy prevention as sperm is no longer able to reach the egg for fertilization.

Warnings

Read the Patient Information Leaflet for more details on the drug. Remember, this pill doesnt protect you from STIs. As a result, you might want to use a condom to prevent such infections. Avoid Feanolla if:

  • You have a liver disease or a high blood pressure
  • Feanolla increases your chances of having blood clots. This will rarely happen.
  • You suffer from diabetes
  • Desogestrel, which is an active ingredient in Feanolla, increases your chances of developing cancer of the breast.
  • Has lactose and soy as its inactive ingredients. This means that you should avoid it if you are allergic to any of these ingredients.

Directions

  • Each pack of Feanolla has 28 pills.
  • Take one pill every day with a glass of water.
  • Take each pill following the arrows on the pack
  • You will finish a pack after 28 days
  • Start a new pack the next day after you finish your current pack (Avoid taking a break between packs).

Ingredients

  • Inactive ingredients: stearic acid, titanium dioxide (E 171), lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, and soya oil.
