This is an oral contraceptive. Gedarel can be very effective in preventing pregnancy if used correctly. It contains two ingredients, Gedarel and ethinylestradiol, that prevent ovulation from taking place during the menstrual cycle. Every pill contains an equal dose of Gedarel and ethinylestradiol, making Gedarel a monophasic combined pill. Gedarel is especially appropriate for people who are particularly sensitive to side effects since it has a lower dose compared to most other oral contraceptive options.

Description

What is Gedarel Tablets 20 and 30?

Gedarel is an oral contraceptive that provides over 99% protection against pregnancy if used as prescribed. It is available in 20mcg and 30mcg. It also contains two active ingredients that prevent ovulation in women during menstrual cycle. These ingredients are Gedarel and Ethinylestradiol. Being a monophasic combine pill means that each Gedarel pill has the same dose of these two active ingredients.

How Does Gedarel Work?

Gedarel and ethinylestradiol are two synthetic hormones that imitate and control the levels of oestrogen and progesterone in the body. This makes it hard for the egg to be released from the ovaries for fertilization. The pill also thickens the fluid in the cervix, making it hard for sperms to penetrate into the uterus. Gedarel also reduces the level at which the uterine wall builds up, thus preventing the development of an egg into an embryo.

What It Treats

Protects against:
  • Fibroids
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Ovarian cysts
  • May reduce acne
However, it does not protect against Sexually Transmitted infections (STIs)
